Man Arrested for Rape Days After Jail Release in Tamil Nadu

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, leading to a devastating loss of life. With 242 individuals on board, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, the aircraft was en route to London when it issued a distress signal shortly after takeoff at around 1:39 PM local time. Reports confirmed that 241 of those aboard perished, though one Indian-British passenger, Ramesh Viswashkumar, survived and is receiving medical treatment. According to local authorities, the plane crashed into a residential area, killing several individuals, including students at a nearby hostel.
Eyewitnesses described a massive explosion followed by thick black smoke. G. S. Malik, a local police official, stated that crews have recovered 204 bodies so far. Both Indian and British authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, which remains unclear, despite favorable weather conditions. The Indian Aviation Minister has arrived in Ahmedabad to coordinate rescue efforts. Air India expressed condolences to the families affected and confirmed that passengers included 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian.
