AI Art Exhibition in Brazil Revives Identities of Enslaved People

In a chilling incident near São Paulo, Brazil, 17-year-old Ana Luiza de Oliveira Neves died after consuming a cake laced with arsenic trioxide. The cake was delivered to her home on May 30 by a motorcycle courier, accompanied by an anonymous note that read, “A gift for the most beautiful girl,” according to The Mirror.
Ana Luiza began exhibiting severe symptoms shortly after eating the cake and required hospitalization. Despite initial treatment and a temporary recovery, she collapsed again and was pronounced dead on June 1. An investigation was launched when her sister alerted their father about the suspicious cake. Authorities traced the sender to another 17-year-old girl, a supposed friend who later confessed to the crime after hours of interrogation. She admitted to purchasing arsenic online and claimed her intention was to scare, not harm, targeting Ana Luiza out of resentment related to personal relationships. The suspect is now being held in a youth offender institution. Ana Luiza’s funeral occurred on June 3, with her father describing her as a quiet girl unaccustomed to danger.
