United States President Donald Trump has been formally nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize due to his efforts in mediating a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The nomination was shared on Trump's social media platform, Truth Social, on June 24, 2025. According to the Nobel Prize website, a total of 338 candidates have been nominated for this year's award.
Georgia Republican lawmaker Buddy Carter praised Trump’s actions as “extraordinary and historic,” claiming he helped end hostilities between the two nations and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Carter asserted that Trump’s leadership showcased the ideals of the Nobel Peace Prize, such as the pursuit of peace and international harmony.
The conflict, which began with an Israeli preemptive strike on Iran on June 13, escalated over twelve days, with both sides exchanging rocket fire before the ceasefire was announced. Trump also previously received a nomination earlier this year, citing the global impact of his 2024 re-election victory.
