YouTube personality and animal rights activist Mikayla Raines tragically died by suicide at the age of 29, her husband Ethan Raines announced on Instagram. According to Ethan, Mikayla faced relentless bullying from individuals she considered friends, exacerbating her long-standing mental health struggles.
In an emotional video, Ethan described how Mikayla's sensitivity, attributed to her being on the autism spectrum, allowed her to empathize deeply with animals but also made her vulnerable to negative feedback. The online bullying campaign, particularly directed at her nonprofit organization, SaveAFox Rescue, reportedly took a toll on her well-being. Mikayla established the Minnesota-based rescue in 2017, saving over 150 foxes from fur farms.
Ethan expressed profound grief, stating, "This is the biggest loss of my life," and urged the public to support mental health initiatives. He vowed to continue Mikayla's mission in saving foxes, while imploring others to be vigilant about the signs of mental distress in loved ones.
