Tragic Accident Highlights Police Apathy: Body Left on Road for Hours
In a disturbing incident reflecting bureaucratic negligence, the body of 27-year-old Rahul Ahirwar lay on the road for over four hours after a tragic accident involving an unidentified vehicle. Ahirwar, who had recently married, was crossing the road on his way to Delhi for work when he was struck. Local residents witnessed the incident and immediately notified the Harpalpur police station in Madhya Pradesh. However, upon arrival, the police claimed that the matter fell under the jurisdiction of the Mahobkanth police station in neighboring Uttar Pradesh.
Residents then contacted the Uttar Pradesh police, who dismissed the situation, insisting it was the responsibility of the Madhya Pradesh authorities. The standoff culminated in villagers blocking the road in protest, demanding the body be removed. It took four hours for the Madhya Pradesh police to finally recover Ahirwar's body and send it for autopsy.
Family members expressed their grief, highlighting the delays as deeply upsetting. "We want the autopsy to be done at the earliest so that we can proceed with the last rites," said Ramdeen, a relative of the victim. The accident occurred around 7 PM, and the body was only removed around 11 PM, spotlighting a serious lapse in emergency response protocols.
