Earth's Energy Imbalance Grows Faster than Anticipated, Sparking Concerns

A significant data breach has compromised the personal information of over 86 million AT&T customers, including 44 million social security numbers, according to a report by Hack Read. The ShinyHunters hacking group allegedly accessed the data in April 2024, exploiting vulnerabilities in the Snowflake cloud data platform.
Customers' sensitive information—including full names, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses—has now reportedly been decrypted and is being sold on dark web forums, as stated by an AT&T spokesperson in a statement to Mashable. The spokesperson added that such breaches are becoming increasingly common as cybercriminals repackage previously disclosed data for profit and confirmed that the company is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
AT&T customers are advised to verify if their data has been compromised by using a tool from cybersecurity firm Pentester at npd.pentester.com, especially considering that some of the leaked data may have already been exposed in an earlier National Public Data breach in August 2024, which unveiled extensive social security records online.
