Milwaukee Man Convicted of Murdering College Student on First Date

A 27-year-old man from Florida, Travis Ray Thompson, has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of the first-degree murder of his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter, Jacklyn. The heinous act occurred on May 2, 2022, just days after Thompson’s breakup with the child’s mother, according to a report by People.
Authorities reported that Jacklyn was brought to the emergency room in critical condition but could not be saved despite medical intervention. The Marion County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding child abuse shortly after the incident. Upon arrival, the mother found Jacklyn unresponsive, experiencing symptoms such as a distended abdomen and a weak pulse.
An investigation revealed that the cause of death was severe traumatic injuries, including a severed spine and internal bleeding, suggesting Thompson applied significant force to the child's body. The Medical Examiner's Office stated the injuries were consistent with substantial bending beyond the child's natural range of motion. This tragic case highlights the grave consequences of domestic violence.
