Concerns Rise Over Disinformation Campaigns in German Election

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the establishment of a European army during a recent address at the Munich Security Conference. He argued that the geopolitical landscape has shifted, particularly with the potential return of former President Donald Trump, making it essential for Europe to assert its own defense capabilities. "Now we can't rule out the possibility that America might say no to Europe on issues that threaten it," said Zelensky, emphasizing the need for European leaders to prioritize their security.
Zelensky's remarks come in the wake of Trump's announcement about upcoming truce talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, raising concerns in Kyiv about being sidelined in negotiations. The Ukrainian leader expressed that Ukraine must be part of discussions surrounding its future, stating, "No decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine."
European leaders supported Zelensky's call, with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz asserting that peace can only be achieved if Ukraine's sovereignty is ensured. Amidst rising tensions, Zelensky also noted the risks of Russia exploiting any perceived divisions between Europe and the US.
