Antisemitic Crimes in Germany Remain Alarmingly High in 2024

Two individuals from the Goslar district, Devin A. and Zoe B., face serious charges in connection with the suicide of an 18-year-old student, allegedly stemming from prolonged stalking and harassment. The trial, held at the Braunschweig Juvenile Court since Wednesday, has drawn significant public attention. Prosecutors have accused the pair of "stalking with deadly consequences," claiming their relentless torment contributed to the tragic outcome.
According to court documents, their harassment began during Devin's relationship with the victim in May 2020 and escalated following their breakup in August 2021. Actions include sending a mocking sympathy card after the separation and intense online and physical stalking. Just days before the victim's death in November 2022, Devin and Zoe reportedly pursued her with a vehicle, creating a terrifying confrontation.
The court has excluded the public from proceedings due to the juvenile status of one defendant at the time of the alleged offenses. A total of thirteen additional hearings are scheduled through April 2025 as the case unfolds.
