Russia and Ukraine Exchange Drone Strikes Amid Ceasefire Discussions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed skepticism towards U.S. President Donald Trump's recent overtures for peace talks with Russia, warning that Kyiv will not engage in negotiations without a solid plan to counter Moscow. Following Trump's suggestion of high-level talks between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine's position remains unchanged: any discussions must first involve American and European participation.
According to Dmytro Lytvyn, an advisor to Zelensky, “For the moment there is nothing on the table,” indicating that Ukraine does not foresee participation in the proposed talks. These comments follow a period of escalating concerns in Kyiv and among European allies regarding Trump's assertions, which have raised fears of potential concessions without Ukrainian input. European leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, have rejected any idea of a "dictated peace" and expressed alarm at suggestions of appeasement toward Russia, echoing sentiments from the historical context of World War II.
