Russian Missile Strike in Sumy Kills 20 on Palm Sunday

Ukraine has significantly increased long-range drone strikes targeting Russian oil facilities, according to a Sky News analysis of confirmed attacks. This escalation, which began in December and continued through January into February, aims to disrupt fuel supplies for the Russian military and reduce its oil exports amidst ongoing western sanctions.
Ukrainian sources indicated that there has been a marked enhancement in drone production, accuracy, and operational range, with strikes hitting targets hundreds of miles inside Russian territory. Attacks have been concentrated on key facilities, such as the Kristall oil depot and the Ryazan refinery, which are crucial for fuelling military operations. Andriy Yermak, head of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, emphasized that Ukraine would persist in its strategy of targeting military supply lines to compel Russia towards peace through strength.
Some analysts, while acknowledging the effectiveness of these strikes in raising operational challenges for the Russian military, suggest the overall economic impact remains limited, particularly concerning the ability to inflict severe damage on refinery infrastructure.
