Russia and Ukraine Exchange Drone Strikes Amid Ceasefire Discussions

Ukraine has not been invited to participate in recently announced peace talks between the United States and Russia aimed at resolving the ongoing war, according to a senior Ukrainian government source cited by the BBC. Despite earlier claims from US special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, that Kyiv would join the discussions in Saudi Arabia, the source confirmed no Ukrainian delegation would attend.
In parallel, European leaders are scheduled to meet in Paris on the same day as the Saudi talks, reflecting concerns that Europe is being sidelined in critical negotiations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has consistently expressed that any peace deal without Ukraine's involvement would be unacceptable, stating he would "never accept any decisions between the United States and Russia about Ukraine," during an NBC interview.
The meetings come as US officials signal a shift in strategy regarding the conflict, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserting that the Saudi talks alone would not resolve the war. Meanwhile, the situation in Ukraine remains dire, with Zelensky reporting that recent Russian attacks have left thousands without power in Mykolaiv.
