Bitcoin Surges to Record High of $111,000 Amid Growing Institutional Support

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he would welcome Russia's return to the Group of Seven (G7) nations, calling the previous decision to exclude the country a mistake. Speaking at the White House on February 14, 2025, Trump commented, "I think it was a mistake to throw them out," referencing Russia's expulsion from what was formerly the G8 following its annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Trump emphasized that inclusion in the discussions was vital, saying, "It’s not a question of liking Russia or not liking Russia. It was the G8." He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin would likely also favor rejoining the group. There was no immediate response from Canada, which currently holds the G7 presidency.
Trump's comments come amid heightened international scrutiny of Russia's actions and ongoing geopolitical tensions. The proposal has ignited conversations over the effectiveness and unity of the G7 as a forum for addressing global issues.
