Two Dead in Tragic Shooting Involving Police Officer's Son

Amandeep Singh, an Indian-American man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the drunk driving deaths of two eighth-graders in New York. The incident, which took place in May 2023, resulted in the deaths of Ethan Falkowitz and Drew Hassenbein when Singh crashed his 2019 Dodge Ram into their vehicle while driving against traffic at speeds of 153 km/h, nearly 89 km/h over the limit.
According to court records, Singh's blood alcohol level was .15, nearly twice the legal limit, and he was also under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crash. A tequila bottle was discovered in his vehicle. Following the crash, Singh fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. During sentencing, he admitted to his responsibility for the tragic incident, stating, “I accept all the blame. I am guilty of every single thing that I’ve caused.” The parents of the victims expressed their anguish, labeling Singh as the "definition of evil," and lamented the irreparable loss to their family.
