Three Germans Charged with Spying for China
The German Federal Prosecutor's Office has charged three individuals on suspicion of spying for China. The accused, identified as Herwig F., Ina F., and Thomas R., are alleged to have gathered military technical information for the Chinese intelligence service, Ministry of State Security (MSS).
The trio was arrested in April in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. Thomas R. is specifically accused of acting as an agent for a Chinese intelligence operative since 2017. From February 2017 to April 2024, they reportedly collected sensitive information related to boat engines, sonar systems, aircraft protection systems, tank propulsion, and military drones, utilizing a company owned by the F. couple for these activities.
