In a significant global crackdown on child abuse imagery generated by artificial intelligence, at least 25 suspects have been arrested, according to Europol, the European Union's law enforcement agency. This initiative, termed Operation Cumberland, involved law enforcement from Denmark and 18 other countries, and underscores the rising importance of addressing AI-generated child sexual abuse material. Europol noted the unprecedented nature of this operation, particularly given the challenges posed by the absence of national legislation targeting such crimes. The operation culminated in 33 searches and the seizure of 173 electronic devices. Denmark will invest an additional €6.7 billion this year, raising its defense budget to 3.2% of GDP in response to perceived threats from Russia, according to Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
