Swift Action Averts Disaster as Passenger Train Derails in Tamil Nadu
A significant incident occurred on Tuesday morning when a coach of a passenger train destined for Puducherry derailed near Villupuram in Tamil Nadu. Fortunately, a major catastrophe was avoided thanks to the quick actions of the loco pilot, who promptly halted the train upon noticing the derailment.
The train, which was carrying approximately 500 passengers, had just departed from Villupuram at 5:25 AM. As it traversed a curve, five coaches derailed, leading to temporary disruption of train services on the route. Remarkably, no injuries were reported among the passengers.
Authorities have announced that an inquiry into the cause of the derailment has been initiated, and normal traffic on the Villupuram line was restored by 8:30 AM. The Villupuram-Puducherry MEMU train covers a distance of about 38 kilometers.
