Over 114 Civilians Killed in Sudan’s El Fasher Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Sudanese army has reportedly recaptured significant portions of Khartoum from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), marking its most substantial victory in nearly a year. According to BBC News, key locations such as the mint, where currency is printed, have been regained, although the RSF still maintains control over much of the downtown area. Army leader Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan expressed confidence, stating, "Very soon there will be no rebels in Khartoum."
This intensified conflict has created a dire humanitarian crisis, with over 100,000 residents in the capital facing famine, as reported by UN-backed researchers. Since the conflict began nearly two years ago, approximately 12 million people have been displaced, and tens of thousands of civilians have died due to violence.
Residents express fear and uncertainty, recalling alleged atrocities committed by both the army and the RSF. As the army gains ground, some locals worry about becoming targets of retribution. The RSF has dismissed reports of the army's successes as "lies," suggesting a continued struggle between the two forces.
