Spanish Woman Returns to India After 20 Years to Search for Biological Mother
A 21-year-old Spanish citizen named Sneha has returned to India in a poignant quest to find her biological mother, who abandoned her and her brother two decades ago. Sneha, accompanied by her adoptive mother Gema Vidal, arrived in Bhubaneswar on December 19 and hopes to trace her roots before returning to Spain for educational commitments on Monday.
Sneha and her brother Somu were adopted in 2010 by Gema and her partner Juan Josh from an orphanage in Bhubaneswar, after their mother, Banalata Das, abandoned them in 2005. Sneha expressed her determination to meet her biological mother, stating, "I want to find her and meet her. I am fully prepared for the journey."
Despite the limited information available, Sneha has gained some insights through locals, including a retired teacher who assisted in confirming her family details. Bhubaneswar city police have been engaged to track down Banalata and her husband Santosh in their native area of Cuttack district.
If they are unable to locate her mother by the impending deadline, Gema has stated that they would return to Bhubaneswar in March for a longer stay. The journey is deeply personal for Sneha, who was only a year old when she was abandoned, and she remains hopeful about reuniting with her past.
