Panic on Train Leads to Multiple Injuries After Fatal Incident in Maharashtra
Several individuals are feared dead following a tragic incident in Maharashtra's Jalgaon, where a fire rumor on the Pushpak Express train caused passengers to jump from the vehicle, resulting in them being struck by an oncoming train. The accident occurred near the Pardhade station close to Pachora around 5 PM, when a passenger reportedly pulled the emergency chain due to fears of a fire on board.
The Pushpak Express, a daily superfast train operating between Lucknow and Mumbai, had halted after panic ignited among the passengers, some of whom exited the train onto the tracks. At that moment, another train, the Karnataka Express, was passing on an adjacent track, leading to the unfortunate collision, as confirmed by Central Railway officials.
Initial investigations suggest that sparks observed within one of the Pushpak Express's coaches may have contributed to the alarm, potentially caused by "hot axle" or "brake-binding." Maharashtra’s guardian minister for Jalgaon, Gulabrao Patil, stated that senior railway officials are currently on-site to assess the situation.
Authorities are working to ascertain the full scope of injuries and fatalities reported from the incident. The region remains affected as emergency response efforts continue.
