China Prepared for 'Any Type of War' Amid Escalating Trade Tensions with US

A disturbing incident has emerged from Shenzhen, China, where highway workers have reportedly cooked and shared a dog that escaped from a boarding facility during Lunar New Year celebrations. The four-year-old hunting dog, Yi Yi, fled the Little Tail Pet Boarding Centre on January 29 after being frightened by fireworks. According to the South China Morning Post, the dog's owner offered a 50,000 yuan (approximately $7,500) reward for its return while on holiday in the Maldives.
Yi Yi was later found on a highway, where it was struck by a vehicle and left on the roadside. Surveillance footage revealed that two highway patrol officers collected the dog and transported it to their kitchen, where it was prepared and eaten by eight staff members. A spokesperson for the highway company claimed that the workers believed the dog was a stray that had died on impact.
The company has expressed regret and confirmed an investigation is underway against the employees for violating food safety laws. The incident has sparked outrage in a city that banned the consumption of dogs and cats in 2020, highlighting ongoing tensions regarding animal rights in the country.
