Metropolitan Police Officer Convicted of Rape in London
PC Samuel McGregor, a 33-year-old officer formerly with the Metropolitan Police's central north command unit, has been found guilty of raping a woman in London on May 11, 2021. The verdict was delivered following a trial at the Inner London Crown Court.
McGregor denied the charges against him, but his actions have drawn strong condemnation from authorities. Chief Superintendent Andy Carter expressed his disgust at McGregor’s "abhorrent behaviour" and highlighted the pain caused to the victim, declaring that there is "no place" for such individuals within the Metropolitan Police.
The case began when McGregor was reported to the police on June 2, 2021, and he was subsequently arrested the following day. He was placed on suspension on March 3, 2022, after he admitted to lying during a police interview.
A misconduct hearing is pending, and McGregor is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10, 2025.
