Man Survives 30km Joyride on German High-Speed Train After Leaving Luggage Behind
A Hungarian man faced incredible danger but emerged unscathed after clinging to the exterior of a high-speed train in Germany. The 40-year-old took this reckless leap while smoking a cigarette on a platform in Bavaria, as the doors of the Intercity Express train shut with his luggage still onboard.
According to police reports, the unidentified man jumped onto the bracket between two carriages after the train departed from Ingolstadt, traveling cross-country from Munich to Luebeck at speeds of up to 282 kph. He clung on for a staggering 30 kilometers before witnesses spotted him and alerted the authorities.
The train was safely brought to a controlled stop in the Bavarian town of Kinding, where police arrested the man. He is now under investigation for traveling without a valid ticket and for actions deemed dangerous to normal operations. This incident recalls a similar episode in 2017, where another man clung to the exterior of a train for 25 kilometers.
Authorities have urged the public to refrain from engaging in “life-threatening nonsense” and to prioritize safety while traveling.
