Indian Student in US Fatally Shot, Family Devastated
A tragic incident has left a family in Hyderabad reeling, as Koyyada Ravi Teja, a 26-year-old Indian student, was shot dead in Washington DC. The unidentified assailants opened fire, resulting in fatal injuries that claimed Teja's life on the spot.
Teja, who hailed from RK Puram at Green Hills Colony in Chaitanyapuri, had moved to the United States in 2022 to pursue his master’s degree. Following the completion of his studies, he was actively seeking employment in hopes of establishing his career. The shocking news of his death has left his family in "complete shock."
His father, K Chandramouli, expressed his heartbreak, stating, "I can’t speak, no father can. No one should face this situation."
This incident is not an isolated one, as Indian students have increasingly fallen victim to gun violence in the US. In November, another Indian student, Sai Teja Nukarapu, was shot at a gas station near Chicago.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conveyed his condolences, stating he is "deeply grieved at this news” and confirmed that the Indian Consulate is providing support to the bereaved family. The Consulate also called for immediate action against those responsible for Teja's death.
