Income Tax Raids Uncover Crocodiles and Huge Tax Evasion at Ex-BJP MLA's Residence
In an unusual turn of events, income tax officers raiding the home of former BJP MLA Harvansh Singh Rathore in Madhya Pradesh not only discovered substantial assets linked to tax evasion but also found three crocodiles in a pond on the property. The raids, which began on January 7, 2025, were part of an investigation into tax evasion amounting to Rs 155 crore.
During the operation, officials seized Rs 3 crore in cash, alongside gold and silver jewelry valued in crores. In addition, they discovered multiple imported vehicles that are believed to be owned by Rathore's business partner, Rajesh Kesharwani, who alone is implicated in a Rs 140 crore tax evasion scheme.
The income tax department has alerted the forest department regarding the crocodiles, as their presence raises concerns over illegal animal possession. Rathore, who served as an MLA after being elected in the 2013 assembly elections, faces serious consequences regarding the discovered anomalies in his financial dealings and animal custody.
Both Rathore and Kesharwani have been under scrutiny for their business practices, and the investigation is ongoing as officials seek further information on the illicit assets uncovered during the raids.
