Eleven-Year-Old Girl With Disabilities Raped in Uttar Pradesh

A Delhi court has convicted former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar for his involvement in the murders of Jaswant Singh and his son, Tarundeep Singh, during the anti-Sikh riots in November 1984. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja announced the decision on February 12, 2025, and scheduled sentencing arguments for February 18. The case gained prominence as it addressed the violence following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which fueled widespread unrest leading to gruesome acts against the Sikh community. According to prosecutors, Kumar was implicated in leading a mob armed with weapons that attacked properties belonging to Sikhs, resulting in substantial looting and arson. The investigation was initially filed at the Punjabi Bagh police station before being taken over by a special investigation team. The court had framed charges against Kumar in December 2021 after finding sufficient evidence indicating his participation in the crimes. Kumar was present in court during the conviction, having been brought from Tihar Jail.
