Ukrainian Soldiers Report Difficult Conditions Amid Intensified Fighting in Donetsk

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated a potential shift in his approach toward negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, following a promise from U.S. President Donald Trump to end the ongoing conflict. During an interview with Piers Morgan, Zelensky expressed his openness to discuss peace in the presence of Ukraine's allies, notably the U.S. and the European Union. "If this is the only setup in which we can bring peace to the citizens of Ukraine, definitely we’ll go for this setup,” Zelensky stated, responding to queries about meeting Putin.
Previously, Zelensky had ruled out direct negotiations with Putin, who has historically dismissed Zelensky's presidency as illegitimate. However, Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesperson, noted on Wednesday that Russia remains open to talks, despite challenges regarding Zelensky's legitimacy in the eyes of the Kremlin. The renewed focus on dialogue comes as the war enters its third year, highlighting the urgency for a resolution amid intensified fighting in eastern Ukraine.
Both leaders’ administrations now show signs of flexibility toward pursuing peace talks, marking a significant shift in the ongoing geopolitical landscape.
