Sudanese Civil War Leads to Devastating Humanitarian Crisis

Fierce fighting in Sudan on February 3, 2025, resulted in the deaths of at least 65 individuals and injuries to over 130, according to medical sources. In South Kordofan, artillery fire targeted the state capital Kadugli, killing 40 and wounding 70 as civilians were struck in a local market. Governor Mohamed Ibrahim attributed the attack to the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, claiming it was aimed at destabilizing the region.
In the western region of Darfur, a military air strike in South Darfur's capital, Nyala, killed 25 and injured 63, with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accusing the army of targeting civilians using "barrel bombs." As armed conflict worsens, the United Nations' migration agency reported that more than 600,000 people have been displaced from North Darfur between April 2024 and January 2025.
UN officials have expressed alarm over rising civilian casualties and called for an end to the violence, highlighting the devastating impact of the civil war on the Sudanese population.
