German Doctor Charged with Murdering 15 Patients

A car drove into a crowd participating in a union demonstration in central Munich on February 13, injuring at least 28 people, including children, local authorities reported. Officials indicated that the incident is being treated as a possible attack, as the vehicle, identified as a Mini Cooper, accelerated towards the demonstrators around 10:30 a.m. after overtaking a police vehicle.
Police arrested a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker in connection with the incident after firing a shot at the vehicle. Bavaria’s state interior minister, Joachim Herrmann, mentioned the suspect was previously known to authorities for theft and drug offenses. Christian Huber, the Munich police director, confirmed that some of the injuries reported were serious.
This incident coincides with heightened security measures ahead of the Munich Security Conference, expected to attract international leaders, including U.S. Vice-President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the event, stating, “this is not something we can tolerate or accept,” and emphasized the importance of holding the suspect accountable through legal action.
