Allegations of Sexual Assault on Air Hostess in Gurugram Hospital

At least 30 individuals have died and numerous others are injured following a catastrophic crowd crush during the Kumbh Mela festival in Prayagraj, India, officials confirmed. Tens of millions flocked to the event, which celebrates one of Hinduism's holiest gatherings at the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers, for a particularly auspicious bathing day on January 29, 2025.
Witnesses reported that the chaos began around 1 a.m. when large crowds collided while attempting to access the sacred waters. Survivors recounted desperate scenes of people being trampled as they fell—some slipping down the riverbank in the frenzy. Victims' families expressed outrage at police, accusing them of inadequate crowd control and contributing to the disaster.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has heavily promoted the festival, called the incident "extremely sad." Despite this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath did not acknowledge the fatalities, attributing the crowd surge to barricade crossings by devotees. More than 400 million attendees were expected for the festival, making it the largest in Kumbh Mela history.
