Former Meta Executive Accuses Company of Compromising U.S. Security

In a dramatic incident at the Bernalillo County Courthouse in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a murder suspect was attacked during a plea hearing on Friday. Alexander Ortiz, 21, who is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Alianna Farfan, was confronted by the victim's uncle and stepfather. Video footage shows the two men jumping over the courtroom barrier and attempting to assault Ortiz, leading to a violent struggle that involved several people, including a corrections officer.
According to police reports, the altercation resulted in visible injuries to Ortiz, as well as to the attackers and the officer who tried to protect him. Ortiz has been in custody since February 2024 and has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, relating to an incident where Farfan was fatally shot in January. Law enforcement officials stated that the relationship between Ortiz and Farfan was abusive, with reports indicating that Ortiz was upset with her prior to the shooting.
The attackers, Carlos Lucero and Pete Ysasi, were subsequently arrested and charged with battery on a peace officer and assault.
