Canadian Man Arrested at Delhi Airport for Smuggling Crocodile Skull
A Canadian man was arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport for attempting to smuggle a baby crocodile skull in his luggage. The 32-year-old was stopped during a security check on Monday when customs officials discovered the skull, weighing approximately 777 grams, wrapped in cloth.
According to Delhi customs, the skull, resembling that of a baby crocodile, was confirmed to be from a species protected under India's Wildlife Protection Act following an analysis by the Department of Forests and Wildlife. The man allegedly purchased the skull in Thailand and did not possess the necessary permits to carry wildlife items.
Authorities indicated that carrying such items violates both wildlife protection laws and the Customs Act. The case is currently under investigation, with further tests underway to identify the exact sub-species of the crocodile. Last year, another Canadian national was also apprehended at the same airport for attempting to smuggle animal horns.
