Belagavi Woman Arrested for Murdering Husband in Disturbing Incident
A woman from Belagavi, Karnataka, has been arrested for the murder of her husband, following a violent altercation over land ownership. The victim, 40-year-old Srimantha Itnali, was found dismembered in Umarani village, with police stating that the incident occurred on December 8, 2024.
According to Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled, the woman, Savithri, initially denied any involvement in the crime. However, during police questioning, she eventually confessed to killing her husband after he became physically abusive while demanding she sell her land to purchase him a motorcycle.
On the night of the murder, she allegedly strangled Itnali while he was sleeping outside, before bludgeoning him with a boulder. To conceal her actions, she cut his body into two parts and disposed of them in a nearby well, along with the boulder used in the crime. Police initiated their investigation on December 10, leading to Savithri’s arrest after a preliminary inquiry.
The incident has shocked the local community, highlighting ongoing issues of domestic violence.
