AI Chatbot Claims to Diagnose Life-Threatening Illness, Saving User's Life

A Reddit user has sparked widespread attention on social media after claiming that the AI chatbot ChatGPT helped save his life by diagnosing a serious condition following a workout. After experiencing extreme body soreness, the individual turned to ChatGPT for advice on his troubling symptoms. The chatbot suggested he seek immediate medical attention for what it identified as moderate to severe Rhabdomyolysis.

Rhabdomyolysis occurs when damaged muscle tissue breaks down rapidly, potentially leading to severe complications such as kidney damage or metabolic imbalances. After following through with the chatbot's recommendation, the user was hospitalized and subsequent tests confirmed the diagnosis of severe rhabdomyolysis.

The user shared that ChatGPT also assisted in analyzing lab results, allowing him to understand his medical condition even before discussing it with medical professionals. This story has drawn attention from other social media users who shared their own experiences of AI chatbots assisting in medical diagnoses.

This incident highlights both the potential benefits and the limitations of using AI for medical advice, driving conversations about its role in healthcare.
