German Doctor Charged with Murdering 15 Patients

A 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker has been arrested following a car ramming incident in Munich that left at least 28 people injured on Thursday. The attack occurred during a street demonstration by striking workers from the Verdi trade union, shortly before a high-profile international conference in the city, according to Munich police spokesperson Christian Huber.
Authorities reported that some of the injuries are life-threatening, raising concerns over public safety amidst an escalating immigration debate in Germany. Bavarian state premier Markus Söder described the event as "just terrible" and suggested it appeared to be an intentional attack. This incident exacerbates an ongoing discussion regarding migration policies, as previous attacks have provoked public outcry and calls for stricter regulations.
Eyewitnesses expressed shock, with one stating that the car seemed to target the crowd deliberately. The incident follows a series of violent attacks in Bavaria, including a knife attack in Aschaffenburg last month that resulted in two fatalities. The recent violence further heightens existing tensions surrounding immigration in the country, as Germany prepares for upcoming elections.
